Description:

An interesting and practical workshop designed to equip you with the knowledge and skills to ensure that your friendships influence your life in a positive way that enhances your wellbeing and mental health.

This 2-hour interactive workshop comprises of experiential activities and discussion, psychoeducation, as well as tips and tools that you can start using immediately and continue to use going forward.

For some people, making friends feels like such a normal and natural, thing they just fall into it. For other people, making friends feels so awkward, difficult or hard-won that they just settle for whoever shows an interest in knowing them. In both of these cases, not much consideration is given to figuring out what good or harm that connection might be doing to them. In other cases, the person knows that a particular friendship is affecting them negatively, but they don't take the time to look at why or how to change things. There can be many reasons why we just accept things the way they are when it comes to friends. But the reality is, if the relationships with the people in our lives are more bad than good then they can affect us negatively and cause harm in multiple ways. Anxiety, depression, low self-worth, anger, paranoia, insecurity, sadness, low mood, and physical aches and pains are just some of the negative effects that bad relationships can have on our mental health. Left unchecked over time, these symptoms can spiral into much worse ones and leave us living in a way that does not align with the life we want to have. Conversely, if the relationships with the people in our lives are healthy and well-functioning then we stand a much better chance of having happier more fulfilling lives.

Why not come along to the workshop and learn the easy steps you can take to look after your mental health and wellbeing within your friendships.

In the workshop you will:

  • Learn what a good friendship actually looks and feels like and which components go into making it healthy.

  • Examine your current friendships and discover how good your friends really are for you and what you can do to improve things if necessary

  • Determine how best to divide your time and energy between your friends

  • Understand why a particular friendship might be making you feel bad, i.e.,“is it me or is it them?”

  • Learn which boundaries to set and how

  • Discover how good a friend you are and what, if anything, might need to change

  • Leave with information, tips and tools you can use immediately to improve your experiences within your friendships
